DRE “Chili Bowl” Cook-off

Posted on Friday, January 13, 2012 by Janet Crouch

January 20, 5:30pm - 7:00pm

The chefs are preparing their menus and buzz of competition is in the air. The 4th Annual PTO “Chili Bowl” Cook-off fundraiser is just around the corner. The competition can be "fierce", but fun.

Parents...here's how you can help!
This is a huge event. We need many volunteers throughout the evening.

Set up (4:00pm - 5:30pm) = 3 volunteers needed
Dinner service (5:30 - 7:00pm) = 6 volunteers needed
Bake sale table attendants = 2 volunteers needed
Second Grade Swap Meet = 2 volunteers needed (Second grade may have this covered)
Door prizes = 1 volunteer needed
Clean up (7:00 - 7:45pm) = 4 volunteers needed
Cook and donate a crock pot of chili = 4 more needed (7 are needed, but we have 3 donated already)

You can also help with a donation!
If you are able donate any of the following items listed below, it would be greatly appreciated.

o Preschoolers ......................... Hot dogs
o Kindergartners ...................... Hot dogs
o 1st Graders .......................... Fritos
o 2nd Graders ........................ Crackers
o 3rd Graders ......................... Hot dog buns
o 4th Graders ......................... Bottled water
o 5th Graders ......................... Small styrofoam bowls or plates

You can also donate baked good for the teachers bake sale table if you'd prefer. Items will be sold for $1.00, so please bag or wrap portions individually for sale.

Please drop off all donations at the DRE office by Wednesday, January 18, or reply to me with your intended donation. I just need to know so I will have an idea of what will need to be purchased.

Additional details...
In addition to the chili cook-off, the events of the evening will include:

  • PTO offering a hot dog or chili dinner for $2.00 (includes your choice of hot dog/chili dog/bowl of chili, chips and a drink)
  • Staff will sell baked goods
Second grade swap meet - Bring a new or gently used toy, book, game or clothing item and exchange it for other usable items from DRE staff and families. It’s fun and you could go home with some great finds.
